Free tour of the Prehistoric Tecchia and Archaeological Museum

Unaccompanied tour of the Prehistoric Tecchia [ancient shelter], a splendid archaeological and paleontological site of international reputation set up with displays containing real finds directly from the excavation area. You will discover this cave where Neanderthals and now extinct prehistoric animals lived, such as the Cave Bear. In the Archaeological Museum you can also observe an accurate reproduction of the Giant Cave Bear, a whole skeleton of an adult bear, those of two bear cubs and other artifacts related to human presence found during excavations in the nearby prehistoric Tecchia.

  • The tour of the prehistoric Tecchia is not physically demanding, however, access is permitted only to children and persons over the age of 4, and in any case to people who are able to: walk on their own, do not have heart problems, do not fatigue when walking, do not have crutches/wheelchairs (you are not permitted to hold children in your arms, in strollers, in a backpack or in a baby carrier/wrap).
  • The route is for all but can have uneven parts and is therefore similar to a mountain trail
  • Closed shoes with good rubber soles should be worn. No heels or wedges.
  • The organization shall not be liable for any accidents caused by incompetence or by unreported physical and health problems.
  • For safety reasons or reasons of force majeure, AlterEco reserves the right to discontinue its service, even without prior notice
